School of Engineering Student Chapters
AET - The Architectural and Engineering Technology Club
Founded in 2004, the AET club participates in Habitat for Humanity, Student Build Competitions, fundraising activities, and philanthropic events, as well as their own building and design projects. There is a large emphasis on architecture, engineering and construction projects, but this club is open to students of all majors.
ANAISES - The Alaska Native American Indian Science and Engineering Society
The ANAISES chapter believes in the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) mission statement. We work together to strengthen ourselves and those in our Native community. We support the vision in building a stronger Native America by helping our Naive students to succeed in their academic studies.
ASCE - The American Society of Civil Engineers
Founded in 1852 ASCE is the oldest national engineering society in the United States. ASCE was formed to enhance the quality of life through the advancement of professional knowledge and by improving the practice of civil engineering. ASCE currently has over 120,000 members, including over 15,000 student members nation wide.
ASHRAE- The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers
The ASHRAE advances the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world. Membership is open to any person associated with the field including indoor air quality, building design and operation, and environmental control for food processing and industry.
ASME- The American Society of Mechanical Engineers
Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, today's ASME is a 120,000-member professional organization focused on technical, educational and research issues of the engineering and technology community. ASME conducts one of the world's largest technical publishing operations, holds numerous technical conferences worldwide, and offers hundreds of professional development courses each year.
ASME sets internationally recognized industrial and manufacturing codes and standards that enhance public safety. ASME aims to be the premier organization for promoting the art, science and practice of mechanical and multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences to our diverse communities throughout the world. Its mission is to promote and enhance the technical competency and professional well-being of our members, and through quality programs and activities in mechanical engineering, better enable its practitioners to contribute to the well-being of humankind.
EWB (UAA) - Engineers Without Borders
EWB-UAA is a student organization dedicated to improving the world. As a student chapter of Engineers Without Borders – USA, our mission is to develop and implement sustainable engineering projects in disadvantaged communities, and improve their quality of life through environmentally and economically sustainable engineering solutions. In the process, students gain world experience in Project Management, Diplomacy, and Resource Management. As a student you can contribute by becoming involved in the organization. ITE is one of the largest and fastest growing educational and scientific multi-modal professional transportation organizations in the world.
SWE - The Society of Women Engineers
Founded in 1950, SWE is a non-profit educational service organization of over 15,000 international, professional engineers and engineering student members. SWE has an extensive network of members throughout the nation that provides programs to encourage young women to enter the field of engineering. SWE sets out to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, as well as expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life. The Society also works to demonstrate the value of diversity.
